Jobs in Maryland, Virginia Added
Monday, April 19th, 2010Maryland’s unemployment rate held steady at 7.7 percent in March after the state added nearly 35,800 jobs in Maryland, the largest increase among all U.S. states.
Virginia added 24,500 jobs, second most in the nation, and posted a jobless rate of 7.4 percent, up from 7.2 percent. It stood at 6.4 percent a year ago in March.
D.C.’s unemployment rate dropped from 11.9 percent to 11.6 percent. A year ago, the rate was 9.1 percent. D.C. added 7,900 jobs over the month. Out of that figure, about 1,800 construction jobs were injected.
